Mme
Jennie Cox Born and raised in Silver Spring,
MD, I attended a French immersion school from grades 1-5. I
continued to study French through high school and into college. I
attended DePauw University in Greencastle, IN out in the middle of
cornfields and covered bridges. I earned a BA in French, and spent
some time touring with college classmates in Paris and later Avignon.
I married Joe Cox, who is a community organizer with the non-profit group,
ACORN, in July 2003. We lived in the tinniest one-room loft in
Philadelphia with our cat Red, so that I could attend Temple University to
earn a Masters in Education. We now reside in historic Dickeyville
in Baltimore City, and
have since added another cat, Ivan to the mix. I earned my
certification in grades K-12 French in January 2004, and am greatly
looking forward to having my own class.
This year my goal is for 2nd and
3rd graders to increase their speaking skills, to write sentences and
small paragraphs using the grammar of the language appropriately, become
active members of the classroom and school communities, and to become
responsible leaders and role-models in the school. |

Wellwood as a teacher's assistant and I began teaching FLES in 2003.
In 2004 I became the 3rd grade French teacher. I have two cats,
Minou and Minette who drive me crazy.

Mlle Marybeth donnelly I was
born in New York City and raised in northern New Jersey. My French career
began back in second grade. Though we only had French class once a week, it
really sparked my interest. The idea of being able to speak to more people
in different places fascinated me. I chose to continue with French in
middle school, high school, and finally in college. I earned my BA in
French, Summa Cum Laude from Loyola College in Maryland. At graduation, I
was also awarded the Alfons and Christine Renk Language Medal for French.
While at Loyola, I spent my entire junior year abroad studying at the
Université Paul-Valéry in Montpellier, France where I lived with a French
host family. I also traveled to Montreal, Canada two times with Loyola’s
French Club where we stayed at the Collège Jean-de-Brébeuf. Just one short
year ago I began teaching FLES at Wellwood International. I am looking
forward to another great year with my students!

Mme
Claudine Jones I was born and raised in a suburb of
Philadelphia by a French mother, a Jewish father and an older brother.
Growing up I spent many summers in Brittany, France with relatives and
friends. I learned French both at home and at school. After
high school I went to Goucher College and graduated with a degree in
Education with an emphasis on Elementary/Special Education. After
college I earned my Masters at Johns Hopkins and met my future husband.
We have two children and one turtle. Our daughter is in the French
Magnet Program at Sudbrook and our son is in the French Magnet Program at
Wellwood. The turtle is in a tank in our daughter’s room. I am
the French Resource teacher at Wellwood. I help kindergarten through
fifth grade students in the French Magnet program. I pull
individuals or groups of children who need either remediation or
enrichment in the major subject areas of reading, French or math. In
my free time I love to read, to be out in nature and/or travel with my
family. In my free, free time I catch up on my sleep.

MMe Kelly Lehto
I am grateful for the opportunity to
return to Wellwood. In 1999, I left Wellwood after teaching the 1st and 2nd
grade French Immersion classes for five years. Upon my departure, my
husband’s work took us to the United Arab Emirates where I taught English at
UAE University in Al-Ain. Returning to America, I was offered a job with
OMES where I was a classroom teacher. Prior to teaching at Wellwood, I
taught French at Public School # 233 in Baltimore City. Prior to my tenure
in Baltimore City, I was a volunteer in the United States Peace Corps. I
taught High School English in M’rirt, Morocco. I am deeply attached to my
Peace Corps country of service. My family and I return yearly to Morocco
and to the village where I first started my teaching career 18 years ago.
We work with a small non-profit organization to meet the needs of village
families in M’rirt.
I hail from Idaho. I met my husband in Morocco.
We married in Meknes! We have two children! Both have banned me from
giving any details about them on this website. Can you blame them? Beside
my French skills, I am quite proficient in Arabic. I love a great
story; I have plenty of my own to share from all my travels. I look
forward to working with the students and parents at Wellwood. I am
sure we have much to learn from each other.

M Erik Moen
I was born and raised in northern
Minnesota on a cattle and sheep ranch. Throughout high school, I
spent my summers at French camp at the Concordia Language Villages.
After high school, I attended Lawrence University in Appleton, WI.
Because I have always been fascinated by the African continent and West
Africa in particular, I decided to do a study abroad program in Senegal.
I had such a great experience in West Africa that I decided to do my
Master's in French at Middlebury College in Paris. I spent two
years in Paris completing my Master's and teaching ESL at local
engineering school. Although I loved my time in France, I really
wanted to be closer to my family and therefore searched for teaching
positions back in the States. I eventually ended up here in
Baltimore County. My wife Ora and I currently live in
Catonsville with our son Joaquin.

Mlle
Lorien Nemec
Mlle Lorien Nemec was born on a
pirate ship. After 15 years of pillaging ships on the Spanish Main
she was forced to walk the plank one mile off the coast of France.
She swam to shore and got a job in Normandy selling shoes. It was
there that she learned to speak French. Mlle Nemec teaches French to
the 4th and 5th graders. In her free time she enjoys knitting pirate
flags and swabbing.
